Brazilian players of all ages are about to get a major headache if they want to keep playing RIOT GAMES. On March 16, 2026, due to the Brazilian Digital ECA Bill, players of all ages will be required to verify their age and identification.
How bad is it for players?
Let’s get the worst outcome out of the way, and that is that players who are less than 18 years old will have their accounts restricted. This means that they cannot play RIOT games in Brazil. RIOT has stated that these accounts will not be deleted. They will be accessible once the player has reached the appropriate age and fulfilled all the necessary requirements.
For older players, they will still need to verify their age and identification. Their accounts will remain inaccessible until they fulfill the required verification. If you are from Brazil, in order to verify your age and identity, you just need to have the following.
- lNational/Government-issued ID
- CPF Number
- Facial Scanning (Age Estimation Tech)
- Online Payment Method (Debit or Credit Card)
What games are affected and why RIOT?
The games that will be affected are LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, VALORANT, WILD RIFT, 2KXO, TEAMFIGHT TACTICS, and LEGENDS OF RUNETERRA. It’s not an issue if you are already above the legal age. It’s more like a minor inconvenience, since this law was already in effect years ago.

The question is, why is RIOT affected? None of its games are super violent, nor do they have too much sexual content. The answer is the gambling aspect. This bill aims to protect children and minors from unsafe online practices. RIOT Games does have some form of gambling, such as Loot Boxes. This bill isn’t just aimed towards video games, but pretty much any online entity.
Just verify your age and identity, and you can continue playing your RIOT games, unless you are underage.
