Modding has always been a part of the PC community, even during the 90s. Nowadays, modding has been more accessible, and people are very skilled with it. However, sometimes mods of the game can go too far, which is why Cap Com decided to just nuke this one YouTuber’s account that has a lot of inappropriate mods of their game.
What happened?
A YouTuber by the name of GrizzoUK had his channel nuked in the past few days. However, the channel isn’t fully deleted, but a lot of NSFW Resident Evil 9 mods were removed. If you look at his channel, there are still some RE9 mods, but they’re not necessarily NSFW. Cap Com has ordered him to remove such mods in an attempt to protect their IP.
Is Cap Com doing the right thing?
Whether it’s right or wrong, the fact is that Cap Com has the right to protect its IPs. As we mentioned, some safe mods are still around, so we can assume that Cap Com just wants the smut out. GrizzoUK’s channel still has some NSFW mods of Eve from Stellar Blade. However, the CEO of Shift Up, the makers of Scarlet Blade, doesn’t really mind those mods, so they’re free real estate.

Cap Com has done a fair thing to do, because they aren’t the only ones to do this. Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida has stated in the past that “if you want to mod your games for appearance, go ahead, but don’t show it on your stream or to other people, otherwise you will be banned”. That’s another fair statement to make, as they are protecting the integrity of their IP when it comes to NSFW mods.
The Diana situation

Cap Com’s new game, Pragmata, has just been released. There is a little girl in the game (though she’s an android) named Diana. There are some inappropriate or NSFW mods of her already online. While one hasn’t shown these mods in streaming channels, you can see why people are angry about it. She looks like a literal child, and making NSFW mods about her is bad. Maybe Cap Com will crack down on the people sharing these mods.
How do mods work
We just like to emphasize that only the channel was required to remove those NSFW mods. Maybe other channels that have shown such mods will also be under Cap Com’s ire. For now, the actual distributor or sites where you can get the mods are still there. This means you can still get your NSFW RE9 mods.

The thing about modding is that only you can see your mods. Let’s take a look at FF14 again, an MMO. When you mod your character to look different, only you can see it. That is because the mod files are saved on your computer. Other players do not have those mod files, so to them, you still look like someone without a mod. If they do have the mod files installed, then that’s when they can see you. Most people don’t care about mods, but if you do use them, don’t let the companies know you are.
