World of Warcraft has been around for over 20 years. It has had a lot of ups and a lot of downs; however, the game is still worth playing today. If you’re on the fence about it, hopefully we can convince you to play with these reasons.
Convenience to play and free trial

Back then, you needed to buy the game (or discs) and install it. That’s annoying, but now, all you need to do is download the Battle.net launcher. Once you have that, download the game, which is over 100GB. You don’t even need to pay for the subscription; the game has a free trial where you can make a total of 50 characters. They will only level up to 20, but you can test all the classes and races. In fact, make all of them, and then start paying for the sub. You will need to buy new expansions, but they become free later anyway when the next one comes along.
No more contested areas
We mean, some servers don’t force PVP on you. Back then, the opposing faction could kill you in some stages. Now, you can enter those areas and not worry about getting ganked. However, you can still have a hard time if you’re competing for quest items or enemies or resources like Ores or Flowers. PVP is still a thing, and there are servers where these are still open for fighting; you just don’t need to go there.

Level scaling for expansions
One of the issues when it comes to WOW’s storytelling is the past expansions. Current expansions take precedence, so if you want to know older stories, that’s going to be confusing. That is, until they introduced Chromie Time. What this does is you can access specific expansions anytime you want. The expansion will also scale to your level.

That way, you don’t need to worry about being underleveled when doing those quests. Also, when you overlevel a zone, you’ll be one-shotting everything. That’s good if you want to know the stories because some of the quests can be challenging when the levels are scaled.
No pressure to do anything

One thing WoW does a lot better compared to other MMOs is that it does give you a feeling of freedom. You can reach max level before you can complete all quests. You don’t need to do dungeons, raids, or even crafting jobs. Just set out on your own adventure, and with traveling being made easier, it makes the game so much more fun. Change locations and do quests anywhere and anytime you want. You don’t need to catch up to the story, because the expansion will always be available for you to do anytime.
Free WoW Classic
When you want to feel the original experience of the very first version of WoW (as well as later expansions), WoW Classic is free with your sub. You have to download it separately, but it comes with the sub. Be warned, these Classic versions are grueling and will demand your time. However, if you love such a gaming experience, then have a shot at it.
