Blizzard held its annual convention, BlizzCon. This year, there are a couple of interesting announcements, but some feel that a lot of these games were announced way too early. A lot of them are coming out in 2030, so take that what you will. Regardless, this is going to be our BlizzCon 2026 Wrap Up, and we’ll see what these announcements are.
Xal’atath Joins Heroes of the Storm
If you think Heroes of the Storm is dead, well, it’s not really popular nowadays. They’re releasing a new hero 6 years later, and that is Xal’atath from the Warcraft series. She is a Void Elf who joined the ranks of WoW during the Legion expansion. That being said, she will be officially released on September 28, 2026.
World of Warcraft Forever
This one is a bit confusing, but this is another version of World of Warcraft. Basically, we have retail WoW, Classic WoW, and now WoW Forever. This version seems to be on its own; the term used is that this game will progress in a way where players stay in Azeroth. That means no other worlds, but we’ll have to see it when it comes.
Warcraft 3 New Campaign
It’s been over 20 years, and despite using the REFORGED version, Warcraft 3 will feature a new campaign. Just to give you a refresher, the original Warcraft 3 campaign ended with Arthas ascending to become the Lich King. Then, there’s the bonus campaign with the founding of Durotar. This new campaign will feature the rise of the Forsaken (Undead faction in WoW). All of these stories take place before Vanilla WoW.
A New StarCraft Game
We only saw a trailer and no gameplay, but this game is set to come out in the year 2030. According to the presentation, it will be an open-world shooter. Based on that, we can assume what the game will be. You could be a Terran Marine or unit. Based on the trailer, you could be a Marine that dies right away. Regardless, this is one to look out for.
Diablo V
This one is slated to come out in 2029. We don’t know much about the gameplay since we only see cinematics in the trailer. According to the devs, the game takes place 100 years after Diablo 4. Around this time, Diablo has won, and let’s say Sanctuary is like hell on earth. You got demons and all manner of evil all over the place. You, as a player, will travel with a caravan, as there will be no towns in this game.
Overwatch’s 10th Year Anniversary
Overwatch is already 10 years old, so Blizzard is planning on something, although they didn’t dwell on that too much. Anyway, a new hero, Doctrine, is inspired by the theme of vampirism. He won’t be coming out this year though, which is unfortunate. Let’s stay tuned for more news about their surprises for Overwatch’s 10th anniversary.
Some Hearthstone News
This was a bit short, but that’s just the nature of Hearthstone. It has been given a new class and a new, overhauled Journal. If you still play Hearthstone, that’s some good news for you.
