All Final Fantasy Gacha Games that Shut Down

Gacha games have been around since the early 2010s. They didn’t just pop up in the early 2020s, and Square  Enix has had a record of Gacha games that have the Final Fantasy name to it. The upcoming release of Duellum Dissidia Final Fantasy has people a bit skeptical. That’s because a lot of old Final Fantasy gacha games were shut down just years after they were made. Will Duellum suffer the same fate as these other games?

Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade  (2012 to 2020)

Players commanded a BRIGADE and teamed up with other players to explore the world, defeat bosses, and collect equipment and abilities from across the Final Fantasy series. Utilize the card-based gameplay and use classic Final Fantasy jobs like Warrior, Black Mage, White Mage, Thief, and more.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper (2014 to 2022)

Gameplay was built around turn-based battles inspired by the classic Active Time Battle system used in many earlier Final Fantasy titles. Players formed parties using characters from all the main games and even the side ones. The graphics give the characters that classic 32-bit sprite look. Pull for characters, weapons, and explore stories in the different games.

Mobius Final Fantasy (2015 to 2020)

Gameplay combined turn-based strategy with a card-based system. Players controlled Wol and switched between different job classes, each with unique abilities and playstyles. Abilities were obtained through a gacha mechanic that rewarded cards representing spells, summons, or characters from across the Final Fantasy series. Combat involved carefully managing elements, abilities, and job skills to defeat enemies and powerful bosses. This Gacha game was praised for having some impressive graphics at the time.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius (2015 to 2025)

Packed with an original story, one could say that this was the game that really steamrolled the concept of Gacha games. You pull for characters in limited and standard banners, and this has a lot of elements like upgrade materials for what Gacha games roll out. The graphics are pretty with characters from other games and even real celebrities, like Ariana Grande.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia (2018 to 2024)

It is considered the best Gacha game that Square Enix has pumped out. It has an original story utilizing characters from all of the available Final Fantasy games. Having some appealing visuals and a polished turn-based game is what made Opera Omnia loved by everyone. The Gacha mechanics were pulling for weapons, weapon duplicates, and with that comes the character who owns the weapons.

War of the Visions (2020 to 2025)

This game utilizes the tactical gameplay mechanics that Final Fantasy Tactics is known for. Utilizing characters from Brave Exvius and other Final Fantasy games is where the gacha concept comes in. Pulling for characters is there, and the game is fun, but it could be time-consuming due to the tactical nature of the game.

Final Fantasy VII: First Soldier (2021 to 2023)

This game is the shortest of them all, utilizing the Final Fantasy VII brand for a typical battle royale game. The game wasn’t that impressive; it was more impressive that it lasted for 2 years.
