In the world of retro gaming, there are a lot of games out there that would sell for a lot of money. As of today, the most expensive piece of retro gaming for sale is the original 1985 SEALED COPY of Super Mario Bros. That thing will sell for up to $2 million, and it’s pretty much the same game. The question is, what is the most expensive Super Nintendo 64 retro game that is going up for sale?
The most expensive Retro Game for Nintendo 64

The answer is the game CLAYFIGHTER SCULPTOR’s CUT. This is a fighting game released for the Nintendo 64. It is also an updated version of the same game titled ClayFighter 63 1/3, a play on the naming sense in these games, where they had to have the number 64 on the title.
Why was it so expensive?
Why is this game so expensive today? Listed below are the reasons why it is fetching prices such as $1,000 to $6,000 for being a Complete in Box (CIB) item. The 1,000 mark is for used copies and even those that aren’t in that good of a condition, but still working. Then, there are those that are complete sets, selling for $15 to 20,000.

Blockbuster Exclusive
This game was released as a Blockbuster exclusive. This meant that you couldn’t buy this game from any store. You could only rent it from 1998 until 1999, when the game lost its luster. It is still the same game as 63 1/3, but with new content, in a time where DLC or downloading content in your game could be considered a new game.

Limited Copies and Their Disappearance
There were allegedly only around 200,000 copies made, and they were circulated in multiple blockbuster locations back in 1998. This meant that some people who rented them either kept them or just got lost. Keep in mind, nobody would know back then how these games would sell for high prices today.
Plus, Blockbuster was still open well into the 2000s and 2010s until it ultimately shut down. When you think about it, there’s a chance that even before the 2010s hit, all those copies on Blockbuster were already gone. There’s no denying that these copies (at least a few of them) are still around, floating.
What is the Game and is it Worth It?

The game is a fighting game with clay figures. Even before this game, there had been previous ClayFighter games for older consoles, as well as several cancelled games later for the PS1. As a game, it’s not anything special. In fact, some people say that it’s just bad. If you want, you can just emulate it or buy cheap reproduction copies available. For collectors, this could just be something like bragging rights. Those game copies that are sealed will probably not even be opened. Just check sites like eBay and others if you’re interested in getting a copy, or not.
