Video Game Movies Coming this 2026

Video game movies in the past have always been mired in controversy. They were either decent or just straight up awful. They have gotten better in recent years, which is why we’ll take a close look at some of the video game movies coming out in 2026. These are their announced schedules, but anything can still happen. One of them was already released last January, which was Return to Silent Hill, and that one was just bad.

Resident Evil (September 2026)

This one is the most mysterious at the moment. Without even any images or a trailer, all we know is that Sony is making this one. This movie isn’t related to any of the previous movies that starred Milla Jovovich. With the recent success of Resident Evil 9 just last February, can the RE franchise strike gold with this one?

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (April 2026)

The first movie released back in 2023 was a monster success. It made over a billion dollars, and this new one is hitting all the same notes. This movie is the only one on this list that is completely CGI or not a live-action movie. Bringing back the cast from the first movie, as well as putting new characters in. This is going to be a fun ride with the whole light-hearted nature and comedic tone.

Mortal Kombat 2 (May 2026)

From comedic to something more brutal, and we have Mortal Kombat 2. This is a sequel to the first movie released in 2021. Don’t think about the 90s’ movies as these new ones have no connection. It’s a solo version of itself using the MK IP. While the first one didn’t do so well in terms of the box office (due to covid lockdowns), this one was approved to be made. We can see long-time fan favorite Johnny Cage (played by Karl Urban) make his way along with some of the surviving characters from the first movie. Expect some over-the-top gore and violence with this one.

Street Fighter (October 2026)

While Mortal Kombat is more on the brutal side, this movie will be more on the comedic and cheesy side. A whole new cast is gracing us in this movie. If the 90s movie had cheese in it with the dialogue and story, this new movie will have some serious fighting moments and all of that glorious cringe and silliness. Think of this as a movie that you shouldn’t take too seriously, and it bears the Street Fighter name.
