DOTA 2 is currently having an event right now, and we’re not talking about the upcoming The International or the one that has been going on for the past few weeks, which is Quartero’s Curios. We’re talking about The Dark Carnival, and people are playing, as well as old players taking a look at whether it’s all worth it.
What is the event all about?
In order to take a look at this event, we have to dissect it into different parts. That way, you won’t be confused with everything. To summarize what you have to do, just play a game of DOTA, and you can enjoy the event.
Progressing through the sections with Tickets

Each hero will drop 3 specific tickets (2 for Turbo). It is important that you win so that you can get tickets. If you lose, then there are no tickets. When it comes to progression, you can see which tickets are necessary to unlock the next part of the story. That’s why you need to pick a Hero that drops those tickets that will allow you to progress.

Progressing through the story and the train will come to an end. Right now, there are only two trains to progress through. As the months come, more of the trains will be unlocked with the same procedure.
The goodies and rewards to get
It wouldn’t be an event if there are no rewards that you can get for free. There are also some stuff that you can pay for, so let’s dive right in.
Candyworks is back
If you played the older DOTA 2 event Crownfall, it is the same. Candyworks allows players to choose from three cosmetic items. It could be any rarity, and even Arcanas are up for grabs. You need the right candy to trade with the set. You can get candy during the progression of the story.

There is also the Re-Roll feature, which you can get every time you win a match. You can only get 10 Re-Rolls per week, so if you use all of them, you just have to wait for the week to end. Re-rolls allow you to change the available items for trade. Who knows, you might get an Arcana or Immortal item, and more. Not all items are tradable, though, so just keep that in mind.
Treasures you can buy

For starters, you can buy candy packs if you want to get more candies than the free ones available. Then, there’s the Emporium of Curiosities. The sets there are called Personas, and you can straight up buy them directly with cash. There’s no need to open them like the Treasure of Wonders.
The Treasure of Wonders are like any of the DOTA 2 Treasures. You buy one, open it, and see which set you can get. The sets will contain different rarities, and each Treasure can be bought per piece. If you don’t want to spend, then the event will also give out some free Treasures, but not a lot. There are a lot of things you can get even if you don’t want to spend during the course of this event.
