We swear this will be the last GTA 6 post (maybe) for now. We’ve had a lot of information, and why not add two more good pieces of news? It’s always nice when we have good news when it comes to these games. The first one is that during the development process, AI was not used. The second piece of good news is that Rockstar will not have any microtransactions for the game. So let’s dive right in and dissect more of this information that is given to us.
No use of AI
We have to clarify that the game did not use generative AI. There’s a difference between AI support used for game development compared to generative AI.
Regular AI used for game development
A lot of games use AI for game development, but the problem is that some people mistake it as a bad thing. That’s because AI is used for the programming aspect. Think about those who use a calculator for assistance when it comes to solving those complex problems.
The type of AI used for development makes it easier to finish things. It could also be the AI applied for NPCs. The in-game characters have to move or function when they are needed, and that is a kind of AI that is needed. Think about those games with bad AI, so it’s better to polish them up.
No Generative AI is used
The Generative AI, the one that people frown on, is the one that used to make art of whatever. That’s the type of AI that GTA 6 will not be using. All of the visuals from the art, music, and whatever visual material will be made by actual people. This is something that people shouldn’t worry about, and based on the trailers, they look good and don’t have an ounce of AI.
No Microtransactions
We have to emphasize this one as well: “THERE WILL BE NO MICROTRANSACTIONS ON LAUNCH”. That means, when the game releases in November, people will be able to play the game with all of its available content with no added cost. No day 1 DLC, and no added content will be up for purchase.
Potential future microtransactions
While it’s good news that there are no added payments upon launch, you know they will add it in the future. Hopefully, it is done in a way where it is not predatory. Keep in mind, GTA Online earned over $60 million just in microtransactions. GTA 6 is a big game, so it’s natural that they will add some fees for content later on. Also, if the rumors of player content generation are a thing, then that’s more money for their pockets. They can also go for the story and content DLC. Like what Cyberpunk 2077 did with their Phantom Liberty DLC.
Final Remarks
It’s nice to hear this news that GTA 6 didn’t use Generative AI and no day 1 purchases. They have to do this so as not to piss off the fans who waited years for this game. After all, if this game ends up being successful, they can add all the optional purchases that they want, and few people would bat an eye.
