Nintendo recently had their Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, so what did they do next? They had another Direct, but this time featuring new games, some old announcements, and more add-ons for existing games. So let’s not waste time and dive right ahead into the games.
Metroid Ravenous
It’s always a joy when we get a new Metroid game. Ravenous uses the same style as the old Metroid games, using 2.5D, and that’s always a good thing. It’s been five years since Metroid Dread came out, so we can’t wait to get our hands on this game.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
We have a new Fire Emblem game coming out, and it looks great. Set in the Dadan Kingdom, looks like we have a whole new crew of characters to play as. The trailer is mostly story or cutscene content, but we do get a short glimpse of the gameplay, and it is as Fire Emblem as you can get with the tactical combat.
Kirby and the World Beyond
Our lovable ball of pink joy is back with a new game. The World Beyond looks like it’s featuring an open world, or at least large-area zones. Kirby gets to explore different areas, and you still get all of that fast-paced action with all of that Kirby goodness. It’s coming out in Spring of 2027, so Kirby fans, get your wallets ready.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
This game was announced almost a year ago, and we have more information. The trailer showcases the classic Professor Layton gameplay from the past games of the series. Ushering in a new story, this game utilizes the classic style- why would they change anything that works?
Stage Fright
From the makers of Overcooked, Stage Fright is something to look out for. It features that cartoony and vibrant look that the Overcooked games had. This is a two-player co-op game where you and your best friend (or whoever) get to play two characters in split-screen action. You need to solve the mysteries surrounding this spooky but colorful game.
Yo-Kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain
This is a straight-up remake of the same game from the 3DS. We don’t know much, unfortunately, because all we see is a short clip of the characters walking on the screen. While it does look updated, we’re not certain if some parts of the gameplay have changed. We can safely assume that you can walk around and befriend some Yo-kai along the way.
Onyx: The Dark Grip
Did you enjoy the Silent Hill 2 Remake? If you did, then the team behind it, Bloober Team, is out with another new game. Onyx does have that same feeling of mystery and suspense, but none of the horror (or does it?). The trailer does showcase some supernatural stuff but not at the level of Silent Hill 2. An interesting game for sure, and with how good Bloober has been getting in terms of its reception, this title is something to watch out for.
