Nintendo Direct: Zelda 40th Anniversary Wrap Up

Nintendo just had its Nintendo Direct presentation, and they focused on the Legend of Zelda. Why did they focus on Zelda? That is because the very first game came out 40 years ago. That’s a great achievement, and they presented everything they had to offer for this festive celebration. We’re here to wrap up what everything important was said in the presentation.

Merchandise everywhere

LEGO Zelda

There is a lot of merchandise that will be released carrying the Zelda brand. We have a few examples like more Amiibos, LEGOs, toys from Hasbro, and more. Also, some of the stuff you see on your Switch UI, like the calendar and buttons, will be given that Zelda feel.

A restaurant and a museum

Super Family Restaurant

While these two aren’t exclusive to the Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary, Nintendo will be setting up these two locations. We have the Nintendo Museum, which has been around since 2024, and it will have some Zelda furnishings and displays for a limited time. The Super Family Restaurant will open up as well, with some Zelda decorations for the time being. The restaurant will have other Nintendo IP, but Zelda will be the frontrunner for now.

The sound of music

To celebrate this 40th anniversary, there will be a series of concerts in select areas. Take a look at the schedules below and see if you are able to buy tickets. A lot of the venues are in Japan, but they have some international spots as well.

The live-action movie

Live Action Movie

The live-action movie was officially announced a couple of months ago. After years of speculation, we finally have a cast for the main characters. According to the presentation, the movie will be its own original story using elements and themes from the game. The cast consists of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda. This movie will also be the last one in which the late Sam Neill will be playing, but we don’t know what his role is for now.

The Ocarina of Time Remake

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake

Announced several months ago was the remake of Ocarina of Time. They showcased a good amount of time for the remake, and there are a couple of new things added in the game. The basic ones are being able to turn your camera in all directions and added voice acting. Some are a bit too good, so we’re separating them on the list below.

Jumping

Jumping

That’s right, you can now jump in this game. In the original, you could jump, but that depended on the circumstances and not on a dedicated button.

Threads of Time

Threads of Time

This feature allows you to see the progress in the story you’ve made. It also allows you to see what current objective or task you need to do next. It’s a convenient tool for newcomers or even the older players who don’t remember what to do next.

Input Audio

Inputting Audio

In the original game, you had to set button configurations to play the Ocarina. Now, you can use your voice or an instrument (like an ocarina) to play the tunes. If the tune is in the game, like the Song of Time, then the game will register it. We don’t know if it will recognize other tunes, though.
