Super Mario Bros 3: Get 28 P Wings

Let’s go back to the past for this one. Super Mario Bros 3 is one of the all-time greats, and one of the all-time great items is the P-WING (short for Princess  Wing). You can only get a small amount of these in your playthrough. The P Wing is the ultimate cheat because you can just fly through those hard open-air levels. That being said, there is the 28 P Wing cheat? glitch? reward? that you can do.

How to get P-Wings

In the game, you can get some P-Wings with certain Final Castles. You can also get them from treasure chests that are dropped by certain Hammer Bros. P-Wings can also be obtained in treasure boxes in some White Mushroom Houses.

You can only get a small amount of them, but with how good they are, they can make the game super easy, at least in some parts. There is the 28 P-Wing trick that you can do to make your next playthrough interesting.

How to get the 28 P-Wings

It is important that this trick only works on the NES and FAMICOM versions. They don’t work for other ports or remakes like the Super Mario Advance 4 (for the GBA). You can get the 28 P-Wings once you beat the game.

Do not reset the game, start a new game, open your inventory, and you’ll get all 28 P-Wings there. There is no save in this game, so you can just start the game right away.

28 P-Wings

Is this kind of pointless?

One would argue that since you had to beat the game first, then what’s the point of having those 28 P-Wings when you already finished, and you can’t even save? There are those who are that good who can obtain the two WARP WHISTLES, head to World 8, and beat the game, then acquire the 28 P-Wings.

That’s when they start playing the game again, now armed with 28 P-Wings. You could definitely say it’s pointless, but people love some secrets and easter eggs, especially ones that they didn’t know about from way back then.
