Story
Without giving any spoilers (too much), the game starts with you as a Ditto, and you will be able to customize your look like your Trainer. From what we know, you are in the Kanto Region, but it seems something happened to this place where there are no humans. The place has become desolate, and you have to do your task to restore things to the way they once were.
Gameplay
These are just bite size information, so that you don’t get spoiled too much if you want to play the game.
What’s Not Here
Combat, that’s not what’s in the game. Pokopia focuses more on a relaxed gameplay experience. There are no Pokémon battles and Gym Battles. You’re not out to become the best trainer there is. You’re not even a human, you’re a Ditto trying to make the world a livelier place. None of that stat boosting or worrying about Perfect IVs or EVs.
Explore the World
There are several locations in the game that you can explore. Some of these areas are a bit restricted at the moment, so you have to gather and finish the requirements to access them. When you are able to do so, you can freely go back to those places, and in some cases, you need to go to them.
Gather other Pokémon
There’s no Pokémon catching here, but you can befriend some Pokémon that you meet along the way. They’ll be able to help you shape the world and fulfill all the things that you need.
Farming Life
With the help of your Pokémon friends, you can now do what those other cozy games do. That is to HARVEST, FARM, and CRAFT. Harvesting resources like wood can be done with the right Pokémon moves. You can farm by cultivating the land, planting seeds, and harvesting them.
Use the skills of your Pokémon friends to help you with this endeavor. Just like using Squirtle’s Water Gun to water the plants. Crafting is done when you want to make some items or homes for your Pokémon friends. Your goal is to fix everything and bring back as much life as you can.
Play at Your Own Pace
If you haven’t played other similar cozy games like Animal Crossing, then this game will respect your time. You don’t need to play it all the time. There are no benefits or downsides when you take a break from this game. This is the definition of cozy games with Pokémon at your disposal.
