Cap Com Releases 4 PS1 Classics on Steam

It’s not April Fool’s anymore, and Cap Com just released four of their PlayStation 1 classic games on Steam. These games are very rare to find and play now physically, unless you’re willing to shell out some money. Praise be, Cap Com, and hopefully they can release more classics, not just PS1 games, for Steam and the digital download network. It’s also worth noting that Cap Com right now has a sale going on Steam for all of their other games until

Breath of Fire 4

Breath of Fire 4

Let’s start with the big one, and that is Breath of Fire 4. The last entry in the Breath of Fire series for the PS1, and this one is highly beloved and sought out. This game could only be played on a PS1 disc; it was never available digitally for the recent consoles. You had to buy a physical copy and own a PS1 or PS2 (it was backwards compatible). It wasn’t until last year that GOG released a port of the game for PC.

Now, Steam has it for you to buy at an affordable price of around $10. One of the PS1’s beloved RPGs, and it was sandwiched during the last years of the PS1. It’s a turn-based RPG utilizing the story of dragons, magic, and fantasy with elements of steampunk. BOF 4 also has recurring characters (names) from the previous games, and this isn’t an easy game to finish.

Resident Evil 1

Resident Evil 1

The grand daddy of the RE franchise, where this game was released back in 1996. That epic shot of the zombie looking back it’s just a thing of nightmares. This is the original game, so we’re not taking a look at the remake for the GameCube. This means that this game has the original, uncensored live-action cinematic cutscenes. Don’t forget about the silly voice-overs that are beloved.

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2

A true masterpiece and evolved the survival horror aspect of RE 1. This game is also based on the original and only port of Resident Evil 2. This isn’t the 2019 remake, and this game on Steam has all the original content. This means it has the LEON A/B and CLAIRE A/B scenarios. Don’t forget about the Fourth Survivor mode, which features Hunk and Tofu. This version of RE2 was also never ported digitally to any online platform.

Resident Evil 3

Resident Evil 3

The third and surprisingly not the last game for the PS1 in the RE franchise. That honor belongs to Resident Evil Survivor, and the less said about that game, the better. RE 3 usually has a mixed reception. A lot of people like it, and some people aren’t too fond of it. It’s just like the RE 3 Remake, where fans are also split about how good or bad it is. That being said, you can now enjoy both RE 3 games on Steam at a much lower price.
