PS5 Players are Requesting Refunds for Starfield

Starfield is a game released by Bethesda, known for monster hits like Skyrim and the Fallout series. Starfield came out back in September of 2023 for PC and Xbox units only. The PlayStation players had to wait until April 7, 2026, for its release, but now there’s a problem, and people are requesting refunds.

Why are players demanding refunds for the PS5?

Starfield, released for the PlayStation 5, was a buggy mess. The game had reports of players about bugging out. The usual culprits are there, like graphical glitches and the screen slowing down. There are those who also stated that the game freezes, and the worst one would be crashes. It doesn’t matter if you have the basic PS5 or the PS5 Pro; these problems persist, rendering the game a bit unplayable.

To be fair, while it is buggy, it doesn’t happen all the time, but it can be annoying in some instances. That’s why some players decided to get a refund. Whether they buy the game again when the game is fixed is all in the air. Plus, Bethesda isn’t that silly to not fix this problem and lose out on potential sales.

The original release wasn’t as good

The release for Xbox and PC was also mired in problems. The problems that the PS5 faced now were also present back then. The common problems were glitches, graphical problems, slowing down, crashes, and freezes. Even people with high-end PCs couldn’t run the game properly. That has been fixed, since it has been almost 3 years since the release. However, these problems also didn’t ruin the game for most people, and once they were fixed, people just started or continued to play the game.

Other problems that the game faced

Bugs and gameplay-related issues aside, the game also suffered from other criticisms. Some of these made sense, and some were just mindless, but maybe grounded in logic.

Space Dog Fight

Underwhelming and empty

The game was hyped up beyond belief, and you could explore multiple planets and do things. A lot of those planets turned out to be a bit empty and barren. You had to walk large areas with barely anything to do. The space exploration was fine, it’s just that the other things could be fine too. What they hyped up had people going “that’s it?”.

Story and characters don’t really click.

Bethesda has been known for top-notch writing and character interactions. You have games like Fallout 4 and Skyrim that have memorable and lovable characters. Starfield has some good characters, but none of them really stand out. Some of them are even annoying and just badly written. It’s not totally bad, but it just makes you think that they could have tried harder. Don’t forget about good quests to do, especially when space travel is in your hands.

In Closing

This could just be a temporary setback for the game on PS5. A few fixes and changes can definitely make things better. We’re just talking about the bugs and glitches. As far as content and writing, we’ll just have to wait to see if they can add anything new.
