Grand Theft Auto 6 is, no doubt, the most hype game today. It isn’t even out, and people are already demanding that it be released. That being said, we can still wait a little longer, but some people just want to see the world burn. In the past few days, a lot of GTA 6 stuff was leaked. What got leaked?
It’s important to note that these leaks are floating online. However, some of these are not confirmed to be real. At the very least, they may be in the early stages because some claim that these were older videos. Regardless, we’re taking a look at what got leaked.
Some gameplay footage
The clips reportedly show protagonist Jason Duval performing ordinary and chaotic activities in the game world, including playing basketball, driving and stealing vehicles, engaging in combat, and flying an aircraft. Some footage also appears to show parts of Vice City and other areas of the wider Leonida setting. This was especially interesting to fans because it provided a look at how GTA VI may actually play, rather than just the carefully edited cinematic footage Rockstar had previously released.
The size of the map
Alongside the gameplay clips, an alleged map of GTA VI’s world also circulated. Reports suggest that the map may show a larger Leonida region divided into several counties and containing different cities, towns, and islands. However, this part of the leak should be treated more cautiously than the gameplay footage because Rockstar has not officially verified the map, and fake or altered GTA VI material is also circulating online.
Are the leaks real?
One reason the leaks attracted serious attention is that some of the footage reportedly contained details consistent with Rockstar’s official material and appeared to come from a relatively recent build of the game. One report noted that an in-game radio element seemed to include music released in 2025, which would be difficult to explain if the footage were simply recycled from the much older 2022 breach. Still, that does not mean every clip, screenshot, or supposed feature circulating online is genuine.
The leaker’s identity and intentions
The leaker revealed himself (or a group of people) as an anonymous figure named Cyberleek. He presented the leaks as a form of protest connected to issues such as digital ownership, preorders, and game preservation. At the same time, reports say the group or individual also promoted a cryptocurrency connected to the leak campaign, which caused many people to question whether the supposed protest was partly being used for attention or financial gain. Because of this, the motivations behind the leaks remain controversial and somewhat unclear.
Take Two’s steps against this.
Take-Two is the parent company of Rockstar Games, so this means that they own GTA 6, and they are not happy. According to recent reporting, the company has issued subpoenas to companies including Microsoft and Discord in an effort to identify people allegedly involved in distributing the copyrighted material. This shows that Rockstar’s parent company is treating the incident as a serious intellectual-property breach, especially so close to GTA VI’s release and official marketing events.
Final Remarks
It’s one thing that leaks are getting shown; it’s another when people have an agenda. However, we do feel that GTA 6 will be fine. Most players will get it for the gameplay and the hilarity that they can do. As far as the story goes, perhaps few people care enough about it even with the leaks.
