GTA 6 Is In Danger with Australia’s Age Verification Law

Australia and the Grand Theft Auto games have always had some kind of beef. Technically, Australia just wants to ban these games from coming over. The earliest one was GTA San Andreas back in the  2000s. GTA 4 was heavily censored, and then  GTA 5 had to undergo numerous problems. Regardless, all of those games are available for Australia nowadays. However, it seems GTA 6 will be getting the next dose of Australian legal headaches.

What’s Going On?

While there is no ban or even potential censorship with GTA 6, the issue here is that with Australia’s new age verification law, GTA 6’s online mode may be in peril. Just to summarize what the law is, any minor or underage person cannot access several mature content websites. The only way to bypass this is by giving out your identification with your face.

This law isn’t just for GTA 6, but everything else. It’s a fair security measure, since you don’t want kids going online and being exposed to this stuff. The other thing is that most people who pay for their games are adults who have access to payment methods.

Is GTA 6 in Danger?

The answer is no, because it affects only the online feature of the game. Considering you can buy a physical copy of the game,  maybe even digital, you don’t need to verify your age if you plan to play on your own. Just play the single player campaign without the need for any verification. We don’t know how solid this system is. Who knows, what if someone, a kid, just asks their dad or older brother to verify the account using their ID?  The kid could also play the father’s account, so they can still go online. We’ll have to see when the game is finally released and find out what happens.
